This CF To Disk Transfer Utility helps you copy disk volumes between a CF card and your hard drive. It is in essence a graphical front end to the cf2dsk.exe and dsk2cf.exe programs supplied with the TI-99/4A CF adaptor. The utility must be run in the same directory as the cf2dsk.exe and dsk2cf.exe files. To use the utility: (1) Select the CF volume to save to/load from in the list on the left. (2) Specify the name of the disk file to save to/load from. (3) Click the Copy... button for the direction you want to copy the volume - CF to disk, or disk to CF. A prompt is then displayed confirming the CF volume number and the disk file name the volume will be copied between. The utility then calls the cf2dsk.exe or dsk2cf.exe program with the appropriate parameters. The program is run in a DOS command window, and you still have to type "Y" at the "Use this drive? (Y/N)" prompt to perform the copy. Any error message will be displayed in the DOS command window in the same way as if using cf2dsk.exe or dsk2cf.exe by itself. The number of CF volume numbers listed defaults to 30. This can be changed using the drop-down box below the CF volume list. Note that the utility makes no checks to see how many volumes the CF can actually hold. Stuart Conner e-mail: ti99@stuartconner.me.uk February 2007 *** UPDATE - using the utility with Windows 7 *** The utility, and the cf2dsk.exe and dsk2cf.exe programs, will work with Windows 7 if the cf2dsk.exe and dsk2cf.exe programs are set to 'run as administrator' (right-click each program, click Properties, click the Compatability tab, select the [Run this program as an administrator] checkbox, then click OK). An additional User Account Control dialog will be displayed during the copying process - just click Yes. As long as the drive is listed in the DOS command window opened by cf2dsk.exe/dsk2cf.exe, the copy should be successful.
